Lets not be toooo hasty condeming any new version of Robocop just yet. You never know it could could be an awsome major bloodbath like Rambo, or a soft pensioners turd like Die Hard 4. There have been a few good actioners with hard hitting violence recently.. Hitman was pretty good, and The Condemed was wicked. Hollywood just has to listen.. Maybe they'll take note that Robocop 3 was completley gay and camp and fans stayed away in droves. I'll never forget the original, scared me to death when i saw it in 1988! Is the Blu Ray disc of the original any good? Hearing mixed reports....

Even if the Robocop remake is ultra violent, it's still going to almost certainly lack the wit, satire, and late 80s awesomeness of the original. And it just won't be the same without Kurtwood Smith as Clarence Boddicker. Not to mention it'd almost assuredly be full of CGI bullshit.

Yeah, it would be a shame that those original characters couldn't be in it. Punisher had no CGI.....

Why is Robocop being remade? As a pure moneymaking exercise that is why. And because of that reason it will have nothing to say and be made by commitee with everything thrown in to appeal to the masses. I can understand films being remade due to the original being severly outdated or crap. Robocop is neither. Who's directing it? Hope its not Paul W.S. Anderson.

Darren Aaronofsky. Husband of Rachel Weisz and director of The Fountain.
He was going to make a more violent, grittier version of Batman in the late '90s, but his script got rejected.

Most people would probably consider Aaronofsky being attached to be great news, but I hated Requiem For a Dream, so I'm not too enthused. (Pi was OK though)

I hate Darren Aronofsky. Requiem For a Dream & Pi are two of the shittiest movies I've ever seen.

I hate Darren Aronofsky. Requiem For a Dream & Pi are two of the shittiest movies I've ever seen. I agree with this inflammatory statement Kimble. When subjected to a process of logical reduction, the entire message of Requiem For a Dream is: IF YOU TAKE DRUGS: you will suffer sepsis and amputation, you'll be forced into demeaning "aaazzz to aaaazzz" sex acts with a double-header in front of aged executive types sloshing their martinis around, and your fridge will try to eat you. That's it. At heart, the film is really just an emotive soundtrack in search of a point to score.

Requiem is to the drugs debate what The War Song is to the issue of war. The War Song, for anyone who may not know, is a much maligned single by Girl George himself and his cronies with a chorus that went "war, war is stupid and people are stupid" (brilliantly parodied by Spitting Image). That's about the level of depth Requiem is at, but at least The War Song could be campy fun in the right fame of mind. Requiem is just horrible, vapid shit.

How long before Hollywood re-makes a remake? I mean, Jesus, try some fucking originality for a change! To be honest though, I'm not really that bothered. Or maybe I've become so numb to the pain of what Hollywood has been doing with franchises/movies that I love in the last decade that I no longer feel the pain anymore. Probably the latter. Oh, by the way, anyone fancy some Ghostbusters 3 action? No? Didn't think so. They're making it anyway, so they say. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7599824.stmSigh.

Still don't want to see all these fucking remakes, but I they've worn me down to the point where I don't have the energy to care about them any more.

I reckon it's a good thing. After all, no one can ever hold a candle to these guys.

I hope he's off the project & that the whole thing just ends up falling through.
I can't emphasize how much I hate Darren Aronofsky.
