That'd be me. Thanks for signing up! Enjoy your stay here. And hopefully we can get some more of the Commando IMDb posters here. That board on IMDb is a riot.

Hey everyone. I also discovered the site from imdb so I thought i'd come on and check it out and to represent Australia, the land of Bennett. Also to help me forget about my appetite, I ate a green beret for breakfast but i'm still very hungry.

My name is Brett and I'm not for certain, but I'm pretty sure I'm one of the greatest motherfuckers you'll ever lay eyes on.
In all seriousness, I am here via my pal notti/Kimble since the old Maniac Cop forum went down, I figured I'd come around here. I have the dubious distinction to join two forums he's involved in without actually having seen the films it is up in honor of. I went to Wal-mart tonight to see if they had Cobra and Commando, but they didn't.

Glad that you're here too, mang. Forum buddiez 4 eva!
You can get Cobra in a double feature set with Tango & Cash. I have it & highly recommend it.
Wal-Mart should have the Commando director's cut DVD. I've seen it at mine quite often. The Commando director's cut DVD is essential to every action fan's library. It's amazing.

I was hoping to find it in the $5 bin. I'll probably get the Blu-ray of it. It's barebones, but I don't watch special features much unless I have to review the DVD.
I saw the Tango & Cash DF, but wasn't sure if it that was any good. At any rate, with my space issues, I'm going to get it anyways because I can't really be wasting space in case I want more Stallone later. Wal-mart had the Seagal triple feature I was going to get (2 discs inside a small case), the Death Wish triple feature, Missing in Action triple feature. So, they had a lot of stuff I'm going to buy, but I can find them online much cheaper and in the case of the Norris flicks, not only in slimline, but with two more movies.
Worrying about what kind of cases DVDs come in is downright fucking weird. It sounds so lame, but I have no choice haha.

I've heard that the Commando Blu-ray isn't that great. The director's cut DVD is the action equivalent of the new My Bloody Valentine special edition since it has a few extra minutes of footage...one being the extended shed scene. The special features are pretty cool too. Short but cool, especially hearing from Vernon Wells aka Bennett. Apparently he knows where we all live.

With Blu-ray, nothing makes any fucking sense. The higher quality of the image means you can see more grain and blemishes, so you gain sharpness and clarity and also gain more irritation because of film defects or if the studio went nuts with DNR. It's all confusing as shit.
Is the new DVD better than the original DVD of Commando?

I'd say it is. The older DVD has no features on it & is just the normal theatrical cut of Commando.
