Does anyone here listen any movie soundtracks, and who is/are your favorite composers? Your best soundtracks? I like these composers: Alan Silvestri Jerry Goldsmith John Williams John Carpenter Klaus Badelt Basil Poledouris Brad Fiedel Michael Kamen Michael Gibbs Howard Shore Vangelis Danny Elfman Ennio Morricone No particular order. I'll list my favorite OSTs later. By the way, I also have a question. Where can I buy movie soundtracks? Does anyone know any good stores? I tried Amazon.com, but I don't have a credit card, so I can't order anything .

Nice list Some of my favourite soundtracks: Trick Or Treat soundtrack by Fastway (Gotta love the movie and soundtrack, but its not an easy one to spot in the records shops.) Manhunter (Michael Mann sure does how to put good music in his films, Manhunter has a creepy sound, with alot of less famous 80s bands and artist, but all the songs fits perfect, and the Grahams Theme does remind me of Pink Floyds Comfertably Numb.) Blade Runner by Vangelis, but i prefer the off-world Esper Edition double disc, that contains almost all the songs from the movie, and some extra sound effects. To bad none of the official releases by Vangelis are near as good. And some other: Howard Shore (Videodrome, Scanners, The Fly and The Brood) Ennio Morricone (Once Upon A Time In The West and The Thing) Popol Vuh (Aguirre The Wrath Of God and Nosferatu) Michael Kamen (The Dead Zone)

Does anyone know if there ever was released an official soundtrack, from The Toxic Avenger?
On Tromas website, you can download the song "Body Talk", that i think the actor (who portraits Toxies blind bimbo girlfriend Sarah) Tahnee Cain sings, but thats it. I tried to look around, but all i can find is the The Dixies Toxic Avenger, and some crappy tunes from the Toxic Avenger Part II and III.
I know that the music in Toxic Avenger arent very good, but its cheesy and so bad its fun to listen too. The song that goes "Is this love they/you said", by Mark Hoffman still stucks in my head, but in a good way i think.

This is the music, besides from rock & metal, I really, really like the most. My favorite composers would be: HARRY GREGSON-WILLIAMS - what can I say? I'm a MGS fan after all. HANS ZIMMER - goes without saying. The best OST ever for me is from "The Rock". Absolutely perfect. I can't recall how many times I've listened to it. I even got the extended 2-disc version with some new cues, and unused tracks. Recently, Steve Jablonsky really blew me away with his amazing "Transformers" soundtrack. Favorite track: Arrival to EarthAnd Geoff Zanelli, although I disliked his work on Die Hard 4.0, he did a damn good job on "Hitman" with some simple, yet catchy awesome tunes. Don't have a favorite here, the OST as a whole is good. Clint Mansell also has some magnificent works, namely Requiem for a Dream. Favorite track: Lux Aeterna. It's amazing. Dead Reckoning form "Smokin' Aces" was also fantastic. "The Fountain" OST almost made me cry... well, It didn't but is really touching. Favorite: The Last ManThere are many more, I can't forget Basil Pouledouris and Conan.

I was very happy with the way Intrada finally gave a well worthy release of the soundtrack to Michael Mann's classic, Manhunter (1986). store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.6505/.fThe sound is great, and all the songs from the original LP/Cassette album, is there, plus a bonus track by The Reds, called Jogger's Stakeout. It's almost perfect, but somehow I still miss the songs by Kitaro, and Klaus Schulze. Especially Schulze's - Freeze, which were used brilliantly, in the scenes where Will Graham, has to meet up with his old demons (Hannibal Lector), in the mental institution. Graham's theme, by Michel Rubini is possible one of my all time favorite theme songs. I like the way Michael Mann used it in the movie. And it does sound very much like later Pink Floyd, or early 80's Tangerine Dream. A very spooky, and upbeat tune.

I miss those days where an music act/artist would go on and make great soundtracks with pop/rock and electronica instead of doing the ordinary orchestral pieces.
Here's the brilliant opening/closing songs to the "forgotten" action-thriller "To Live and Die In L.A. (1985).
Tangerine Dream did some of their best work when doing music to movies in the 80's. Near Dark, Firestarter and Thief would not have been the same without the German synth legends. Beach Scene has a Pink Floyd feeling while Charly The Kid and Mae's Theme is some of their finest songs.
