I have been a fan of electronica since i purchased Scooters 1995 album And the beat goes on!, and Prodigys Music for the jilted generation.
I dont care what people might say about Scooter, to me their earlier 1993-95 instrumental songs are some of the best music to come out of the eurodance/rave/happy hardcore era.
Nowdays i listen mostly to Kraftwerk and Vangelis, but also alot of the new wave/synth pop bands of the late 70s and 80s.

I'm into Kraftwerk as well, also like Depeche Mode, Alphaville and New Order. Some decent Kraftwerk bootlegs knocking about online, I've found some nice remixes over the years.
Have you got Electric Cafe by Kraftwerk? underrated imo.

I've been big into a lot of these bands at one point or another. In my early teens there was little I would listen to that didn't have an electronic element, although a lot of it was more mainstream like OMD, Ultravox or whatever. Also, Gary Numan's greatest hits was my favourite album when I was nine. I actually saw The Human League and John Foxx live a few years ago. This is one of my favourite albums:

Have you got Electric Cafe by Kraftwerk? underrated imo. Yes, but to be honest, i havent really given it a chance But i kinda had the same releationship towards another very often underrated album, "Radioactivity", but now its one of my favorite Kraftwerk albums, along with "Computer World" and "Trans-Europe-Express". Another electronic band that i have been hooked on that last few months, are japanese Yellow Magic Orchestra. Not as cold and calculated as Kraftwerks music, but still has that futuristic sound and lots of warm and gentle rythms. Surprised that so few actually know about their music, and why its so hard to find their albums in the record store.

Italo Disco. This is the most underrated and influential electronic music I've ever heard. Every person on here should give it a chance. It was a genre that spawned in Italy in the very early 1980s and would inspire most electronic music released after it. And since this is basically a forum that glorifies the media of the 1980s (which I am ecstatic about), you will all probably have no trouble making a transition. This genre features over 10,000 artists (I have a 20gb folder of it and I've seen others with 100gb Italo folders), and very 80s sounds and subjects. Also, the lyrics are in English, and because that is not the native language of the artist, it makes for some hilarious broken English (I.E. "Or touch on a laugh on look at the sky"). In fact, I'm going to prove that you will like it: L-Vira - Talking About Rambo (yes, it is a plot synopsis of Rambo II): youtube.com/watch?v=CKV7SY54V7gKano - Another Life: youtube.com/watch?v=eML6_RZao-wKoto - Jabdah (a song about Jabba the Hutt): youtube.com/watch?v=k7bKx0-shPII know I'm carrying on here, but if you people don't look into this, we may never see a revival here. There is already a massive one in Europe, and honestly, I'd rather go to a concert of someone lip-syncing a bitchin' 80s song over some talentless shitbag. If any of you actually like this, let me know. I have a myriad of these gems (songs about movies, history, and sex) stored in my brain, which I am eager to share with the like-minded.

Funny, Giorgio Moroder and John Carpenter (the director/composer of some of our favorite films) were vital influences for Italo Disco.

I'm a big fan of Rush's synthesizer-heavy era, mostly 'Show of Hands' and 'Power Windows.'
Other than that, I also dig Herbie Hancock. 'Rock it' kicks ass.

Been listening to some of Talk Talks older records, like The Party Is Over, and Its My Life. Great synth-pop or New Wave if you will, albums. Very underrated band, that deserves more credit than they got. In the early years, they were "just-another-synth-pop" group, but by the end of the 80s they were hailed by critics as one of the best bands of the decade, and later would have a big influence on the upcoming post-rock wave in the early 90s. If you dont have heard about them before, do yourself a favour and check out their albums, and Mark Hollis solo album. You would not regret. Here are some classic synth-pop songs from their early years: 1982-1984 Today www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVzjD9WZ6JgIts my life www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvAVJTQeFiQSuch a shame www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IZyFHG9ZJI&feature=relatedHave you heard the news? www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVc1soT3t7oTalk Talk 1986-1988: The synth sound is almost gone, and they have evolved into almost a jazz trio, with hints of classic and progrock. Yeah, Talk Talk are great; I prefer their synth stuff myself, I know that's a minority opinion though.

Yeah, Radioactivity is great, listened to it the other day, over three decades old and it still sounds great. If you like it check out OMD's Dazzle Ships and maybe Roger Water's Radio K.A.O.S. which contains an anti-Stallone diatribe in morse code! There are some quite interesting videos on YouTube for people who are interested in the development of Synthesizer technology, especially in the 80s, for example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt_iZLgo2f8&feature=channel_pagewww.youtube.com/watch?v=_15ZQL82P4M&feature=channel_page
