I think a Miami Vice thread was on the old site, but back then i wasn't really paying Miami Vice any attention. But now I'm literally hooked on the show, after i bought the box set, that includes all the five seasons. Anyway, here you can discuss your favorite episodes, seasons, characters, guest stars, bad guys, music from the show, style, cars and so on.

Castillo is my favorite character in that show. I love how he always has that pissed off look on his face and no bullshit attitude ;D Edward James Olmos is the man

As Ricardo Tubbs said about Castillo, when they first meet "Hes like the Cuban " ;D I like the Castillo episodes, and The Golden Triangle is one of my favorites from season 1. He has that mysterious look on his face, as he did in Blade Runner, as Gaff. Right now I'm closing in on season 3, and it is not that bad as most people i know has said it would be. About the changing style, Crockett's clothes, hair and his Daytona. In my opinion if prefer season 3 over season 2, but i didn't like the way Zito goes down. Hes my favorite, even though his character are more in the shadow of Crockett and Tubbs. Made For Each Other are a perfect Zito and Switek episode. Hilarius bad guys, and Noogman and Izzy teaming up, that cant go wrong. I wish they had more episode like that. Its also fun to see John Diehl as the corrupt Gilroy in The Shield.

I've got best of DVDs of the show. One good story is the two-parter in which Crockett and Tubbs take a speedboat trip to find the scumbag who killed Tubbs' bro. The first part is gripping, with Sonny getting back with his wife, only to be stalked by a sadistic killer and losing his boss to the nut.
I remember a clip from this ep was used for a BBC1 advert, showing Tubbs carrying a pump-action shotgun.
He was the ultimate shitkicking badass in part 2.
Before I got my new job last month, I used to catch the Vice sometimes on Men & Motors.

This show rules. I remember an episode where Ted Nugent played a gun toting villian. I hate Ted Nugent, but it's cool that Miami Vice always had cameos, big names too (for the time). And, of course, the music. I refuse to ever watch the movie, even though Michael Mann directed it. Not just because every old tv show has to be remade into a movie, but because it just looks horrible. Jamie Foxx and Colin Ferrel? I'll take Philip Michael Thomas and a pink shirt, shoulder-pad sportcoat wearing sockless Don Fucking Johnson. It doesn't get anymore 80's than that.

Simply put; the greatest TV series of all. I could expand, but I don't think I need to.

Since I haven't watched seasons 4 or 5 I'll wait to make my decision. So far though season 1 is my favorite. The pilot episode may still be my favorite out of all of them. Seasons 2 and 3 are about even for me. Season 2 did have some stinkers towards the end though.
I second that Castillo is the best character. I love his dead cold stares. My favorite episode with him so far has to be Bushido. He was so bad ass. I also agree that Zito is cool. In the first season I thought Zito and Switek were just the comic relief, but in the second season Zito became a bit of a bad ass. Switek on the other hand is always plain goofy and making mistakes.
Pretty awesome show nonetheless. Its not the most consistently good show, but when its running on all cylinders it's great!

Seasons 2 & 3 are my favourites with there being lots of awesome action in 2 and grittier storylines in 3. Also in the 3rd season, Crockett & Tubbs were toughened up. They seemed grittier as characters, getting in on the rough stuff quite a few times.

Edward James Olmos was not your typical cop show boss either. He never yelled or shouted at anyone, he let C & T do their thing for the most part and he never grumbled about his private life, plus he never trusted anyone apart from the ones he knew. In short, a stand-up dude. One of the best ever episodes was Shadow In The Dark from season 3. Shades of Manhunter there.

Caught 2 episodes of Miami Vice on Television last night, and I realized its been too long since the last time I watched an episode or 2 in a row.
Heart Of Darkness This may be my all time favorite Miami Vice episode. Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill) stars as an undercover cop who's gone a bit too deep in the eyes of his co-workers.
This episode is genius from the beginning till the end, and Ed O'Neill gives us one the best guest roles in the whole series after just 2 episodes in. The episode feels like a great movie, even though its just about 40-50 minutes.
It has some great music in it too, both by different artists and the chilling sounds of Jan Hammer, but this scene with the use of Devo's "Going Under" is a classic.
Calderone's Return Speaking of bad ass moments, the scene where the Argentinian takes out 3 guys in a row has to be one of the most brutal and coolest scenes in the whole show.

Season 1 and up to half of the third season were top quality, but after the death of Zito I thought the show kind of slowed down a bit. Not bad but it didn't feel the same.
William Russ one of my favorite villains of the whole series.
