Ben Richards, a police officer framed for the murder of 60 unarmed protesters/rioters, breaks out of prison with his friends Laughlin & Weiss. Later, he is captured(whilst wearing the ugliest shirt ever) when Amber turns him in after he kidnaps her so he can escape to Hawaii. He is the guest contestant on the most popular television show in the world, The Running Man, where runners are stalked throughout multiple areas by gimmicky yet dangerous stalkers. Will Ben survive? Will he make Killian eat that contract then ram his fist into his stomach & break his goddamn spine? This is an Arnold movie. Great action from start to finish. Arnold one-liners galore. An interesting gallery of Stalkers. Richard Dawson as the scummy Killian. Thomas Rosales Jr's exploding head. MarĂa Conchita Alonso in a skintight outfit. Jesse "The Body" Ventura. An entertaining watch. I was really looking forward to a showdown between Sven Ole-Thorson & Arnold but it didn't happen. Sven had to score some steroids. Yet another essential Arnold movie. Check it out. You can get the special edition DVD for pretty cheap.

What a great movie. Ahnuld is in top form, lots of action and mayhem, the Stalkers are merry bunch of good natured and no harm meaning people and Richard Dawson is larger than life as Killian.
I wonder when they are gonna remake this one?

Picked this one up as well: It's also in a collection known as "The Bachman Books." I'm guessing they released it in this form to cash-in on the movie. It's supposed to be a good bit different than the movie too. Has anybody read it?

I first read The Running Man book in 2002. It's definitely different from the film. More of a conspiracy / political thriller, but it's still got some action and a memorably tragic and explosive ending. The stalkers in this one are police officers hunting Richards. The character is more an Everyman, tall and skinny. He has a wife who's unattractive, as well. Also, Killian is a black guy.

Was that from JB Kurt? I saw this movie there and was thinking of picking it up but I forget the price. Is there anything special on the 2nd disc?

I know the Artisian 2-disc special edition in the States has pretty decent special features. The features are the same on each disc. One disc is widescreen & the other is fullscreen. Artisian did the same thing with their Rambo DVD releases from 2002.
