Pure cheese! It's the music, it's the visuals, to set up Arnies cliched and perfect family life with his daughter. To go from feeding a deer...feeding a deer!...to the all out, violent action carnage of the rest of the film, is a work of genius. Classic.

I do agree. A good action movie should always open with the bad guys taking out the trash. Just look at Hard Target and Cobra!
Plus James Horner's score really helped with this film. The steel drums and other Jamaican instruments are excellent and so are the bad guys's witty dialogue. Honestly, HOW do you write something that GOOD?!

What about the opening of Stone Cold? It's like the opening of Cobra sent into overdrive.

The deer feeding shows the sensitive side of Commando.

What do you believe in? What do you believe in!" "I believe whatever doesn't kill you simply makes you... stranger"

I'll probably get it on DVD when it comes out. It looks pretty good but I doubt I'll go batshit insane for it like many people have.

I think it's definately the best Batman movie by a long stretch, and arguably the best comic book film. There's nothing quite like a comic book movie to get the geeky masses all worked up though...
