A highly entertaining comedy/romance/suspense flick by Jonathan Demme. Starring Jeff Daniels as Charlie, the "closet-rebel", who likes to play it safe, and keep out of trouble, but still dreams of something else than his normal 9-5 daily job routine. Melanie Griffith stars as the eccentric Lulu, who gives poor Charlie the ride of his life. They have two things in common, they both seek comfort and someone special, and they are soon going to meet up with the dark past of their lives, something they have been trying to forget. One of my favorite feel-good midnite movies. The chemistry between Daniels and Griffith is fantastic, and the way Ray Liotta just pops up out of nowhere as the sadistic Ray Sinclair, may probably be one of his best roles ever. Not to forget the incredible soundtrack, and the guest appearance by The Feelies. My favorite scene has to be this, where everything is just all right, and then suddenly Ray comes along, and the movie changes from romance/comedy, to suspense/thriller in an blink of an eye! Also great cover of David Bowie's "Fame", by The Feelies, and gotta love Jeff Daniels dance moves.
