What scenes do still give you the chills?
Some movies are downright scary. I mean even before the movie begins. The music sets the tone and you know you could be witnessing something special.
But there are those who might not be that scary at first, still they could all of a sudden throw in an unpleasant surprise, even if its just for a few seconds. And you let it get to you because you weren't ready for it to begin with.
Here's a couple of scenes that I think still holds up very well when it comes to real horror.
From the 1976 "Hippie horror" film Blue Sunshine by Jeff Lieberman. Creepy as hell.
Dario Argento's 1985 masterpiece Phenomena has some gruesome scenes in it. Took me a while to get over some of the scenes when I first saw it.
Don't think this scene would have made into the big screen today. Those mutants beating the teacher into a bloody pulp in front of all the little kids, now that's scary.
The opening scene to Werner Herzog's 1979 version of Nosferatu, with haunting music from Popol Vuh. One of the best vampire films of all time. I have often skipped the first 3 minutes because I know they will pop up in my dreams at night and not in a good way.
Once again the music and intro makes an very effective way of letting you know this ain't no ordinary movie. Halloween 3: Season Of The Witch is a great horror film and do not deserve all the hate.
