Billy Halleck (Robert John Burke), is an overweight lawyer who happens to work for the local mobster, Richie Ginelli (Joe Mantegna). After he wins the case, Richie as a token of his appreciation, honors Billy and his wife with a big thank you dinner.
But the happy times is about to change when Billy accidentally runs over an old woman on his way home. The woman is the daughter to the 106 year old gypsy leader, Tadzu Lempke.
The city's police and leaders have never been in favor of the traveling gypsies, and when they help Billy out of the situation, old Tadzu suddenly appears and brushes his hand over Billy's face and whispers "Thinner".
To begin with Billy don't think too much about what happened with Lempke, but when his weight is going drastically down, he realizes that this is not a positive problem, its a deadly one.
Later he finds the gypsies camp and begs them to take the spell away from him, but they just laugh at him. In desperation Billy lashes out at Lempke and his people, "You wanna see what the white man from town can do?" He then casts a "white man from town!" curse on them.
Things is about to heat up as Richie Ginelli comes to Billy's rescue and the two of them decides to go to war with the gypsies. This is actually a pretty fun movie, and one of the better Stephen King's films of the 90's.
