Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) is a criminal mastermind who has an reputation for doing successful bank robberies along with his loyal crew. He have always been one step a head of the police, thanks to careful planning and the right men to help him with the job.
But when a supposedly easy "in and out" job goes to pieces thanks to an unpredictable newcomer, Neil and his gang is now on the radar of Detective Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) who seems almost obsessed with hunting them down.
As things is about to heat up in L.A. the two of them is going to learn that they aren't really that different from each other to begin with.Heat is one of the best action-thrillers made in the 90's. It has a a brilliant cast and fantastic use of music. And as usual Mann's movies are stunningly beautiful to watch. Along with Thief (1981) and Manhunter (1986) as one of Michael Mann's finest films.

Got to finally see "L.A. Takedown (1989" last week and even though its almost impossible to watch and not think of "Heat" it did have its moments and noticed that Michael Mann used some of the same music later in the "remake".
Didn't know that "L.A. Takedown" was a pilot to a possible upcoming TV-series, and I think the film could have work out fine in a double episode of "Miami Vice", but by 1989 that show was sadly miles away from the first three seasons.
One of Mann's finest scenes with great use of music and location.
