Dalton is the best damn cooler in the business.
He has the looks, the titchy ass, the wardrobe (high waist, baggy legs, open shirt) and the haircut (highlights, feathered). He's no ordinary bouncer as Kelly Lynch finds out - he has brains (Philosophy from NYU), sensitivity ("opinions vary"), home-making skills but also a masters in dance-fucking and killer death moves. Every one thinks he should be bigger, but they forget that for Dalton, "pain don't hurt."
Only Wade Garrett has reached those heights. Wade was the 70s. Dalton is the 80s.
Ben Gazzara might think he is the boss, with his guinea charm, but he is a big fish in a small pond, and Dalton is going to chuck in some mines. No amount of redneck slobs or monster trucks can stop him. Even Jimmy the punk fucker with his pool cues of death can't touch him. You fuck with Dalton, he will seal your fate, and when the carnage is over - no one saw nothin.'

My brothers and I watch Road House like its reading a bible. Wade Garrett is one awesome mofo, as are Dalton's moves at Wesley's place, avenging his dear friend. "TAIL'S AGAIN!"
I watched it with breakfast this morning on SpikeTV and they really cut the piss out of it. Chopped it almost as much as they did with Cliffhanger, which had much of the action sequences trimmed like dog hairs. Shame.

The only thing that makes this movie better is watching it with the rifftrack found at www.rifftrax.comHilarious.

Sadly, as of last night, actor Jeff Healey died of cancer. He played Dalton's blind guitarist friend at the Double Deuce and did an interview on the Special Edition dvd. May he rest in peace.

That's too bad about Healey.
I found that this movie is a near cousin to the world of Seagalogy. With a few minor tweaks this movie could star Seagal. This is also the case with another Swayze movie, Next of Kin. Did anyone else get that vibe?

Road House is a timeless classic, like parachute pants. Every line is quotable and every fight scene is something that should be taught at schools. I used to wear a red shirt on Fridays and would call them Road House Nights, cause I would watch the movie later that night.

This is truly another classic from the golden age of action. I cant really add much more to the awesome poetry of the other responses in this thread, however his rip the throat out kill is awesome. And it had some boobs in it too.

"I used to fuck guys like you in prison!" Easily the gayest line in the film history. I do love this film though Sam Elliot and Crazy Swayze made one hell of a double act.

I first saw this when I was about 7 years old. Our upstairs neighbor put it on and I think the part where Steve is nailing that girl in the store room was the first time I ever saw tits or a sex scene in a movie. It was pretty cool. I have long since grown to appreciate all other aspects of this fine movie. It stands as a personal favorite and a triumph for Swayze.
"Consider it severance pay. Take the train"
"Steve, you're history." -"But I'm on my break" "Stay on it."
Dalton ain't nothin' to fuck with.

This movie literally has some of the best lines ever, followed by the best fights of 1989. Right boot.

This movie literally has some of the best lines ever, followed by the best fights of 1989. The greatest one of all: "I see you've found my trophy room. The only thing that's missing.....is your ass!" Gotta love the throat rip. Pure classic.

Bringing the thread back to life after watching it last night.
A true representation of the late 80's. This movie truly gets better with every single view. Everything about it is great. What can I say that hasn't been said before. It's very unfourtunate that Swazye didn't appear in the sequel, which I still enjoy. But, overall Road House is ace.
I also own three copies of it. ;D

Three copies? Very impressive! I love this although I always get a little sad as the Swayze is no longer with us, rest his soul.

I own two copies of the movie (just bought it on Blu-Ray last week when I went to the store to buy an assload of used Blu-Rays for cheap), but I've also got the soundtrack on CD, so that's pretty sweet too. If you wanted to give someone an example of a late 80s action movie, wouldn't this one be a real consideration? Fantastic fighting, quotable lines, boobs, and the fucking Bigfoot monster truck. What more could you possibly want?

Of course it would be a great reccommendation.
I have two VHS copies and one DVD copy. I have the original 1990 release which has some pretty cool previews including The Road House Challenge phone game. I also the 1997 re-release. And the Deluxe Edition DVD.
I have also seen a Patrick Swayze Action Pack VHS set which includes Red Dawn, Youngblood, and Road House, maybe one day I'll pick it up.
