John Rambo is removed from prison by his former superior, Colonel Samuel Troutman, for a top-secret operation to bring back POW's still held in Vietnam. Rambo's assignment is to only take pictures of where the POWs are being held, of course Rambo has other plans. A 80`s action classic full of explosion`s, shooting, some sweet one liner`s and an epic score from Jerry Goldsmith. Murdock... I`m coming to get you!

I'm not sure which is my 2nd favorite Rambo movie. This one or the 4th. My first favorite is obviously First Blood, but part 2 and 4 are both fantastic. I think part 2 wins due to the exploding arrows, firing in the air while screaming, helicopter attack and coming out of the mud wall.
Rambo is such a perfect killing machine, it's unbelievable. Almost as good as a certain ex-military colonel.......

Rambo: First Blood Part 2 is one of the cornerstones of action cinema. It ranks up there with Die Hard, Commando and Lethal Weapon for setting the standard for over the top 80's action. The pacing of the film is also quite good, there are very few slow moments.
The character of Rambo is very different in this film than in the last one. Here, instead of introspection and character development we get a superhuman killing machine. But you know what, I like that too. Both this movie and First Blood fill their separate roles quite well.
To me Part 3 was an inferior rehash of part 2. Part 4 is a diifferent animal altogether...

'Lethal Weapon' followed COBRA and its ideas, I don't see that much originality (despite it's one hell of a movie).
I think RAMBO and COMMANDO really "shaped" a new era in cinema.
If you know 'RAMBO: FBP2' pretty well and have a good DVD version, please contact me via private message, I need help. Many thanks.

Anyone else prefer Rambo III over First Blood Part II? it's a bit slower to start with, but it really gets exciting in places, not to mention Trautman and Rambo in action together!

Out of all the bits in this movie, my absolute favorite part is when he blows that one trooper to smithereens with a direct exploding arrow, then leaps from a massive bomb dropped off a chopper. Absolute action at its best.
I myself have an extremely difficult time trying to debate between Rambo II and Rambo III. Part II is great and full of Vietcong deaths, but part III has the "fuck 'em!" moment and the blue light attached to the exploding arrow in the cave. That prison breakout shootout is pretty violent as well--that's what puts me on the debate.

Don't get me wrong, 3 has it's moments. If you ever wanted to see a guy take out a helicopter with a bow and arrow, this is your film. I just found that the pacing was off and the antagonist was too similar to part 2. Another russian colonel flying a Hind D?

favorite movie of all time! from the moment the "MURDOC!!!! I m coming TO GET You!!" line is spoken it's so fucking good. And immediately after his ho gets gunned down and he becomes a serial killer, it's the most satisfying 30 minutes in action movie history. highlights for me. -camouflaged in mud knife kill (favorite action movie kill) -baiting vietcongs with chicken blood and lighting them on fire. -exploding arrow to vietcongs chest -jumping out of the water and up on to a helicopter, disposing of a russian int he process -stealing a helicopter and going on a war path -putting that ahole murdoc and the karate kid villian in their places.

I always liked the end when Trautman asks him..."How will you live?"
Rambo's answer....."Day by day" and just walks off into the smoke......movie fades out.
Fucking sweet end to an awesome movie. One of my buddies and I still quote that scene once in awhile.
