this is more than likely going to be one of those threads that dies on its arse. but ive just been blessed with new screen cap knowledge courtesy of brothers doodoobrova and kimble, and the anti-christ got me in a creative kind of mood. i love in 80's films how blatant some of the product placement is. the all time king of this particular trend of brazen consumerism is mr stallone. every film he was in in the 80's is littered with examples of this. in one from over the top, stallone is driving around in a truck with this trailer for the first half of the film:

Cobra also has quite a lot of product placement too. Especially during the grocery store shootout.

Cobra also has quite a lot of product placement too. Especially during the grocery store shootout. you mean shit like this: and this: that last shot is one of my favourite product placement moments. not only does stallone utilise the product, he thinks outside the box and uses it in his chess match with the dirtbag by throwing it as a decoy. the choice between pepsi or coors must have been agonising. coors cans are bigger and heavier and would thus make more of a statement. a can of pepsi would have been smaller and offered greater aerodynamic potential. it all boils down to whether cobra wanted to make a loud, noticeable sound, OR whether he wanted a missile that have served him better had he wanted to bullseye a specific target to distract attention.

There is a good scene in the first Wayne's World film, where they make fun of product placements, anyone remember it? ;D

Apparently Stallone wasn't going to be taking sides in the Coke/Pepsi war.

Another Stallone one - remember in Demolition Man where every restaurant in the future is owned by Taco Bell? Product placement, or satire, or both? The worst offender for product placement, is that cunt Michael Bay. The Island is basically a long advert for Calvin Klein, Puma, Xbox, MSN, and any other corporation that threw a big bag of dollars in Bay's direction. By the way, The Island is shitty even by Michael Bay's low standards. Worst of all - Scarlett Johansson has a sex scene in it, but keeps her bra on. Fucking rookie error, there.

stallone in rocky IV isnt content with just wearing a big sweater: he has to get duke and paulie wearing the same identical thing. but with a different colour scheme:

Talladega Nights: This whole fucking movie is advertisements. I guess it's a joke on Nascar advertising, but you know they probably didn't have to pay anything to make this movie, and it made millions of dollars. Also, I've never seen the Stallone movie Driven, but I can imagine that it's probably more of the same.

Also, I've never seen the Stallone movie Driven, but I can imagine that it's probably more of the same. An absolutely awful, dreadful movie that is surprisingly entertaining thanks to AWFUL acting, a retarded plot, and increasinly over-the-top crashes that are a mix of real and CGI. The cars and driving suits and so forth are covered in sponsors, just like the real thing of course, but it's not full of other product placement because it's not an intentional comedy. It just ended up that way.
