Great movie. Shane Black isn't just one of the best writers in Hollywood. It turns out he's an awesome director as well. Val Kilmer was hilarious in this.

I absolutely adore this film. The shootout at the end is VERY well done, I must say! Very witty dialogue and great comedic elements, like the Russian Roulette scene.
Punk Rock Steven Seagal. I nearly pissed my pants from laughing so hard when I first saw that part.

Shane Black's next movie (writing & directing)....The Nice Guys
Jackson Healy (muscle-for-hire, recovering alcoholic) and Holland March (sleazy private eye, practicing alcoholic) are improbably brought together when the daughter of a presidential candidate seemingly commits suicide. Problem is, the deceased girl's aunt is convinced she saw her niece alive and well after the highly publicized incident. Though March is convinced the woman is a flake (she's got coke bottle eyeglasses, so who knows what she saw?), he takes the case because he needs the money.
Of course, there really is a dopplegänger, and, after a little digging, it begins to look like the presidential candidate might've done some shady shit with one of these girls. I won't spoil the inner workings of the plot, but it's a fast-paced head-spinner on the level of Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang; as with that film, the narrative threatens to spin out of control with each nutty contrivance, but, somehow, it all shakes out in the end.
Here's an excerpt........
Healy (v.o.) Love... Grand isn't it..? (beat) Me? I was in love once. June Miller.
FLASH CUT TO: A NICE RESTAURANT
HEALY sits across a table from a knockout BLONDE. They stare into each other's eyes. A beat. Healy starts to say something. The blonde cuts him off:
Blonde Jack... I slept with your father.
The guy at the next table does a spit take.

Finally saw it today and totally dug it. Shane Black proves once again he`s one of the best writer`s around, Downey and Kilmer made a hilarious double act and Michelle Monaghan was smoking hot. I loved the fact Kilmer had "I will survive" as his ring-tone.

Great movie with top notch acting and some solid action. I've never been a Robert Downey Jr. fan,but he was very good in this. Val Kilmer is amazing as Gay Perry, a really fantastic character I'm glad I read this thread. Otherwise I'd probably never watched this movie,so thanks Kimble
