I love this movie. I think most modern action shitfests(usually with Vin Diesel) are turds on cellaphane but this was a damn good movie. Entertaining & filled with action. Tom Jane was great as The Punisher although I wish he would've been more cold & violent like his comic book counterpart. I'm looking forward to the sequel as well although Jane isn't going to be in it. Such a pisser.

Yeah, the punisher is my fave comic book character and I loved this movie.
I think he was quite violent and cold toward the end, the knife through the throat into mouth was both hillarious and original, but it was the start of the whole thing, so im sure the next one he will be that much more badass.

I thought it was gash, the original Dolph Lundgren one was superior.

A truly solid modern action film that delivers a nice body count at the end, which makes it even harder for me to decide between THIS Punisher and the Dolph Punisher. Dolph was a damn machine, but Jane blew off a guys foot and shoved a knife up his jaw. That's just cold right there.

I like the Dolph Punisher better as well but I thought the newer Punisher was hella great. Probably the best action movie from this decade.

Probably the best action movie from this decade. I'd say its only rivals are Shooter and the brilliant Rambo 4.

I haven't seen Rambo yet so I can't make the comparrison. I'm sure that statement will be changed once I do see Rambo.
And I don't really care if I see Shooter or not.

I saw both Punisher movies and while the Dolph Lundgren movie is the one to see for over the top action and martial arts, the new one is more real to the comic that I grew up reading. I'm not putting down the Dolph Lundgren version because I do like that one but I kind of like the Thomas Jane one just a smidge better because of the brawl between The Punisher and The Russian.

I like this movie a lot. It's a somewhat different action movie than most nowadays, but it's great nevertheless. Thomas Jane was awesome, and I really don't understand the almost universal bashing it gets.
On another note, I saw the 1989. version with Dolph. As much as I love the Punisher, and Dolph - that movie sucked. It would be okay if it were another random B-action flick, but The Punisher deserves a lot better. Not that the 2004. version was perfect, but compared to the 1989., it's far superior.
I'm really looking forward to the new Punisher: War Zone. Too bad Jane wont star in it.

I loved this film when I saw it in the theaters. I never seen the original with Dolph Lugren.

The '04 version is excellent and it follows the comic more closely than the '89 verison, which in itself is excellent. But this one was just balls to the walls action, very well done. And although Tom Jane isn't in the sequel, I'll cehck it out based upon Kimble's good review.
