This is in my top 4 Van Damme films of all time. SUCH great action! Powers Boothe is excellent as villain Joshua Foss, who is holding the Vice President hostage and (ruthlessly) kills other hostages without any problem. I wish my name was Powers... ;DTHE PLOT: Darren McCord takes his two kids to a Pittsburgh Penguins National Hockey League play-off game, unknowing that the sports arena has been taken over by terrorists, who are holding the Vice President of the United States, as well as many other high-ranking officials hostage. Darren later becomes the only one who is aware of the situation. And, the stakes are raised when the terrorists announce that they will blow-up the building at the end of the game. Therefore, Darren must not only subdue the terrorists, but postpone the game and send it to overtime.

My hands down favorite kill of the entire movie is when Van Dammage drives a chicken bone right into that one guy's throat in the kitchen. GRUESOME! ...and, of course, the best fight in the movie: Van Damme vs. Icy www.youtube.com/watch?v=eftKwZzT15U&feature=relatedThere is no Van Damme movie villain greater than Mr. Joshua Foss... ...except Sgt. Scott and Emil Fouchon

Powers Boothe is pretty badass but it seems like there should have been a great second in command to physically fight Van Damme. I always look to Under Siege 2 for a good example of this. Eric Bogosian was the business suit villain and Everett McGill was the physical threat and it worked out pretty well for that movie.

Just watched this, i was right when i said it was a badass movie in a previous post, i havent actually watched this since 1997 and i cant believe it has taken me till now to own it on dvd I forgot how brutal some of the kills are in this movie, Hallmark getting completely toasted to death by a mini supersoaker filled with lighter fluid also when Van Damme stabs that guy in the neck with that chicken bone is harsh. Probably Van Dammes best matchup was against the giant penguin, she put up the best fight, her death was pretty awesome too.

This one is actually my favorite Van Dammer movie (I'll probably be killed for say that my favorite isn't Bloodsport). Novelty deaths and awesome action and the inclusion of my favorite hockey team the Pittsburg Penguins make it a winner for me.

Eh, don't worry--I've said a hundred times here my favorite VD film is Hard Target and I haven't a scratch on me. ...and the inclusion of my favorite hockey team the Pittsburg Penguins make it a winner for me. I had that same point of view until my family and high school became irritated with my joy of them doing well in the final few matches against Philadelphia. I recently spent afew hours in bed due to rib problems the other day and watched Sudden Death for the first time in awhile. This movie is now tied with Double Impact for second-best Van Damme movie. Peter Hyams sure does a great job at directing action. Just look at Timecop.

I am prepared to be slaughtered for this but I would rather watch Sudden Impact than Die Hard anyday. ;D

Roger Ebert has the exact same opinion. It is beyond comprehension why he detests Die Hard but loves the sequels to no end. Heck, the man gave Sudden Death 3 stars!

Sorry meant to say Sudden Death not Sudden Impact. Sudden Impact is good too though. I think Die hard 3 is a more enjoyable film than the first one. Probably beats Sudden Death too. (and sudden impact)

Die Hard 3 is probably the most underrated sequel of all time, along with Robocop 2.
