Ive been a Batman fan ever since i could remember and have seen all the movies and have liked the majority of them, Batman was excellent, with Jack Nicholson as Joker, Batman Returns was better in my opinion, Danny Devito was amazing as Penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer was hot as Catwoman. As for the third movie Batman Forever, i thought it was ok but came across a little bit Kiddy but i did love Jim Carrey's performance. I'm not going to say anything about Batman & Robin apart from it was absolutely SHIT!!! But i really enjoyed Batman Begins and I'm really looking forward to the next one Batman The Dark Knight. Over all Batman Returns is my favorite purely because of the cast and absolute darkness.

Going to go against the flow here...I don't really like Tim Burton's Batman movies that much. They're lovely to look at, they're really dark and atmospheric, and Jack Nicholson's brilliant but...I just can't warm to them at all. Batman Begins is very good, however. It was lacking a memorable bad guy and a memorable fight scene, but from what I've seen the sequel might sort that out. Bloody shame about Heath Ledger though, I was starting to really think he might actually turn out to be brilliant as the Joker. Favourite Batman though - The Animated Series. 10 times better than the Tim Burton movies that inspired it. edit: I think I can use the various Batmobiles as an example of why I prefer Begins to Burton. Tim Burton's Batmobile looks sexy as fuck, but I just know that the Batman Begins Batmobile would thrash it in a fight

Batman '89 for me. I grew up watching it & Batman Returns. I also have a soft spot for Batman Forever, which isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Batman & Robin still sucks though.
And I thought Batman Begins was pretty damn good. Looking forward to The Dark Knight. I'm still not fond of Ledger as The Joker, however.
CJM, I'm with you about Batman: The Animated Series. Probably my favourite animated cartoon ever. Every time I think of Batman talking, I hear Kevin Conroy's voice. I'm also very fond of Batman Beyond & the Justice League series, where Conroy resumes his voice duties as Batman/Bruce Wayne.

The Animated Series was an old childhood favourite. I'll have to pick up some more of it on DVD, it was awesome. Speaking of animated Batman, there's a few animated manga episodes that are supposed to be set between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight...there's an article about them here: www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=22015Some of the art work in it looks fucking cool, some I'm not so keen on.

Difficult choice between Batman and Batman begins. I prefer Christian Bale playing Batman, but Jack Nicholson as the Joker steals the show in the first movie. Therefore, the 1989 version...

Glad to see I'm not the only fan of Batman: The Animated Series here. What a brilliant show. Great atmosphere and animation, but also fantastic writing and very good voice acting. Mark Hamill was absolutely brilliant as the Joker. You really felt convinced he was truly an insane psychopath. As far as the movies go, no love for Adam West packing a spare tire of flab over the top of his utility belt in the '60s?

Never rub another mans rhubarb! ;D
I voted for Batman Forever, remember it coming out when I was a kid, managed to see it three times at the cinema, though Batman 89 is pushing it, The Joker is superb.

Batman 1989 was my favourite as a kid. It was the first Batman movie i saw, and also the first film i got on vhs. But i voted Batman Returns, it really freaked me out when i first watched it, escpecially the deaths of Selina Kyle and The Pinguin. Great musical score, and the actors are perfect.
Walken didnt get fully loaded and felt good, just like old times, after his electro-shock-kiss by Selina, but it was one of the best "bad-guy-deaths" in the Batman series.
Both Batman:The Mask Of Phantasm and Batman The Movie with Adam West are good for different reasons, and for cheesy and good times you have Batman Forever and Batman And Robin.

I know I'm going to get blasted for this but I thought that Jack Nicholson's Joker SUCKED! Batman Begins was a breath of fresh air in this series. Batman was okay, Returns was alright, Forever was pushing it, and Robin, well the less said about that one the better. Looking forward to The Dark Knight with hopes that they finally get the Joker right.

I know I'm going to get blasted for this but I thought that Jack Nicholson's Joker SUCKED! Oh believe me, you're right about that. I thought Nicholson's performance was absolutely fantastic in Batman. Finess, violence, intrigue, and the perfect mix of insanity. Sure, he wasn't as skinny or Leno-jawed as Joker is in the comics, but I could care less about that. Jack was EXCELLENT in the movie, and what I obviously know is the best part. One of my favorite scenes with him was when he repaints the art gallery while Prince is playing on the ghetto blaster. I've been watching Batman '89 since I was a mere child. Loved it ever since. However, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that.

Gotta be Begins. Christian Bale made the effort to actually have some muscles, his Batmobile could actually drive at speed and crash through walls, and the film was so well done. Re-watching Batman '89 now... it's hard to imagine that anyone ever thought it was good. As Colonel John Matrix points out, the Burton films were all style, no substance.

"Oh, I guess you're only familiar with the new Batman movies. Michelle Pfeiffer...ha...the only true Catwoman is Julie Newmar, Lee Merriwether or Eartha Kitt. And I didn't need a molded plastic suit to improve my physique *Taps chest* Pure West. and how come Batman doesn't dance anymore, remember the Bat-tussi?"
