Straight-up 1980s action cheese from start to finish. People cry about Dolph not wearing the skull & seem to focus on that instead of Dolph wasting a bunch of creeps. Not the best acted film out there but still some great action & fun. A massacre from start to finish. My all-time favourite Lundgren role & film. The beginning & ending monologues from Dolph are pretty awesome too. If you're guilty, you're dead. -Dolph Lundgren. Check. -High body count. Check. -Ridiculous opening credits. Check. -Stereotypical mafia guys ie the guy in the limo that's like "yeeah!". Check. -Drunken homeless actor informant that seems to know about everything going on. Check. -Louis Gossett Jr. never giving up on you. Check. -Mafia guy yelling "You fucking bitch!" before getting razor-sharp earrings thrown at him, pinning his hands to the wall. Check. -Mute, sexy, asskicking adopted daughter. Check. -Dolph Lundgren one-liners. Check. -Motorcycle riding through the sewers. Check. -Balls with spikes on them. Check. -Throwing knives galore. Check. -Violence towards underground casinos. Check. -Bartender that reminded me of Gary Klar from Day of the Dead for some reason. Check. -Explosions. Check. There's more but my list is getting too long.

Dolph kills a lot of people and that's always recipe for good entertainment. Those people who whine about the missing skull should shut the fuck up and enjoy the movie for what it is - a good entertaining action movie.
I love the Thomas Jane Punisher movie too

The last 10 minutes are fantastic, the alternate ending from the workprint is great as well (you gotta see Dolph going berserk Andrew Scott-like as he yells at the kid to blow his head off!)

I've never seen the workprint version. I'll have to look that up!

There are about 3 or 4 workprint videos on youtube. Pretty cool stuff. There's also a page showing the differences of the final cut and workprint. Very big difference in action. movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=4918Personally I find this Punisher much more entertaining than the Tom Jane film. It's got Dolph and a much higher body count, for god's sake! It's brilliant!

That's just the differences between the R-rated and the uncut, not the workprint, which by the way also features the 16 mins prologue (before he becomes the Punisher) and is kind of like a "Lethal Weapon" rip off

If Dolphs Punisher version was made today theres no doubt it would be superior, but until someone does a good remaster, its Jane for me! The original was a low budget romp and just hasn't had the time/money spent yet to bring it up to scratch. My DVD is dark and grainy with poor sound. Still love it tho!

The Escapism Film Festival ( festivals.carolinatheatre.org/escapism/index.html) in Durham, North Carolina will be screening the director's personal print of Dolph's "The Punisher" on October 18, which is billed as the US theatrical premiere of the (unrated version) of the film!

When the awesome opening seqence has a skull dagger jammed in a mafia chest from the ceiling duct I said that does it the rest of this film will be awesome. The body count is just unbelievable and on the docks hes whacking ninjas and guidos at the same time. What about the Harpoon through the henchman then glides down the cable with the uzi pistol. awesome. Definitely Dolphs best work.

I think that the "Whaaaaaat? Yeeeeeaaaaah!" guy was robbed of a Best Actor Academy Award.

Best scene is definitely when Dolph starts shooting at all the slot machines and everything for what seems like an eternity. Man, I hope I never piss him off! If he can get that angry at a bunch of inanimate objects I'd hate to see what he'd do to me! On that note: my friend actually ran into Dolph Lundgren at an airport and got to talk to him for a little bit and get a picture with him! He said he was really nice! Man, I wish I could meet him! Oh, and I can't wait for Command Performance! Looks like its going to be one helluva Lundgren action fest!

The Punisher (uncut) is another film I would really like to have in my massive DVD collection.
