Decent trailer. It looks to be pretty action packed movie, but of course the movie could still suck. I hope there's some ultra -violence and very high body count, that you would expect in a Punisher movie. They should get Stallone direct Punisher,at least it would be violent as fuck.

It was because of the Thomas Jane's Punisher from 2004 that I became a fan of the character. While that movie had flaws, it was still pretty damn awesome. The 1989. version was bad.
Now this one looks really promising, and I will definitely will be seeing it no matter what. I hadn't had high hopes for Iron Man, and I was very positively surprised with the movie. I hope that The Punisher: War Zone will also be that way.

I officially cannot stop watching that damn trailer! It's so action-packed that I can't stop pressing the 'play' button over and over again. Reminds me of the Dolph Punisher and Ray Stevenson looks great in the War Zone look. I just hope he uses the dual MP5K's that he killed plenty with in the old comics--bring more justce to the awesome franchise.
I CAN'T WAIT!

I don't buy it. The trailer was full of "money shots".

Somebody finally got The Punisher right. And they put him in a movie that feels like it could've been made in the 1980's. It's got that same twisted sense of humor that Arnold had, when he wanted Matrix to hit someone with their own dismembered arm.
Ray Stevenson turned out to be a great choice for Frank Castle. He plays him as someone that knows he's going straight to hell, and just wants to have as much company there as possible. He also looks like a guy that has spent years killing people with whatever means were available to him.
I realize that, in recent years, The Punisher comics have taken on a slightly more serious tone. This is not that film. This is the gleefully over-the-top Punisher of the 1980s comics, mixed with some of the early Garth Ennis stuff, and dished out in the violent style of the MAX series. Frank Castle is played perfectly straight, but he's surrounded by an eccentric cast of villains. It's a throwback to old-school comicbook movies, owing more to Batman `89 than The Dark Knight.
Best of all, this is a violent Punisher movie. Some have suggested it may be more violent than Rambo, and I think I might have to agree. Whereas that movie saved the majority of its bloodshed for the finale, this one kind've spreads its carnage out over the entire film. There are at least two or three scenes that had the entire audience laughing out loud. I'd definitely advise against watching the red band trailer- or any, for that matter- since it gives away too much of the good stuff.
I almost didn't go see this, since the buzz on it had been terrible all year. Too bad Lionsgate didn't do more to change that fact, since they had the opportunity for a very entertaining franchise here. It's a shame it bombed so badly this weekend. It would've been interesting to see what kind've sequel this group could've made with a larger budget.
Perhaps this quote from the San Francisco Weekly's review sums it up best:
Let's be very clear about what kind of movie this is: The kind where a dreadlocked black man with an Irish accent who's on a constant meth high is one of the least bizarre characters, and the kind where torture and graphic murder are the answers to everything.

I saw this last night & liked it. It was mind-numbingly fun & full of ultra violence. Too bad most of the violence was CGI-created. They really could've had some awesome effects if they went the practical route for most of 'em. The guy getting his face punched in by Frank was pretty hilarious & over the top. Over the top...three words that describe this movie.
I like Ray Stevenson as The Punisher. He's what The Punisher would look like if he were a real person. I thought Dominic West was pretty funny as Billy the Beaut/Jigsaw & a good villain for the movie along with Looney Bin Jim. Jigsaw's make-up was pretty sweet.
With all of that said, this is my least favourite out of The Punisher flicks. Dolph's version will always be my favourite followed by the Tom Jane version. Punisher: War Zone will be on one of my DVD shelves when it's released.

And Under Siege. I remember Seagal shooting 2 SMG's at the same time in that trailer as well.

This movie is getting a very limited release over here in England. It is being screened at only 11 Vue Cinemas across the country, but it's not showing at the Vue near where I live. From what I've seen, there are no afternoon/early evening/evening time slots at all in some of the multiplexes. Best thing to do is wait for the DVD to come out.

I am an uber Punisher fan and I was very hesitant to see this movie when it came out. I have to agree with Jeff Goldblum though. They finally got The Punisher right. War Zone was criticized for it's violent content and because Frank doesn't say much he just kills. That is exactly who The Punisher is! He doesn't sit there and sob like Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man! He kills you, your family, your friends, and your dog. Excellent flick. Wonderful badguy as well. Though Jigsaw did look a lot like Mason Verger in Hannible.
