Who do you think's the harder actor? or In their day, they were both terrific. Burt's greatest ever achievements were Deliverance and Sharky's Machine. In a fight, Reynolds would give as good as he can get, but I reckon Caan would edge it, because he's trained in martial arts. Two films spring to mind with Caan - Rollerball and Thief.

Caan. I guess Jimmy's been in a couple of goofy movies, but he's pretty consistently played tough guys on screen, whereas a fair portion of Burt's filmography is taken up with stuff like Cop and a 1/2, Smokie and the Bandit (which is great, don't get me wrong), Stoker Ace and so on

I'll second what you said. Burt did too much comedy, whereas Caan had more opportunities to flex his tough guy muscles. The Killer Elite, Freebie And The Bean and Alien Nation were good, knockabout actioners and he was one of the unsung stars of the underrated Way Of The Gun. I'll always remember Caan from this. And this was Reynolds at possibly his best.

James Caan would just use his mafia connections on Burt Reynolds.
Love live Sonny Corleone.

I love that Burt picture.I love it so much, that I had to fuck around with it: El Presidente And since I'm not a big fan of Caan, the mighty Reynolds gets my vote.

I say Caan.
He'd bust out the old Chicago typewriter.

Put the women and the children to bed! I could have gone the rest of my life without seeing Burt Reynolds or Bennett like that! I would have to give the edge to Caan in this fight. In all of the movies I've seen Burt get into a fight in his is usually getting his butt handed to him. See Hooper for example. If he has a weapon or the element of surprise he usually wins. See Stroker Ace, The Best Little whorehouse in Texas, Deliverance, Sharky's Machine. Plus, James Caan took out Kathy Bates in Misery and she crippled him first!
