The greatest Jackie Chan movie ever made!As an apology for making 'The Protector,' Chan stars in the international martial arts hit 'Police Story' as Hong-Kong cop Ka Kui, who scores his first big hit by single-handedly capturing and arresting a big drug-lord after a wild village shootout and chase. The drug-lord is furious with the failed dealing and frames Ka Kui with the murder of fellow officer. Ka Kui has to clear his name, whilst keeping himself from getting killed or arrested. The movie has positively incredible fighting sequences that blew me away, as well as some REALLY good acting and the most unbelievable stunts I've ever seen performed in a Jackie Chan film. If you don't own this, I suggest buying it right away! [glow=red,4,300] 10/10[/glow]

The stunts are indeed increadible BUT this does have some really, really lame spots of humour in it. I mean, a courtroom scene where the tape playback makes it seem like two of the characters are talking about sex?!? I don't think even the Police Academy sequels stooped to that!

I used to have this on video when I taped it off Channel 4 back in Christmas 1991 when Jonathan Woss introduced a short season of Jackie Chan films (back in the days when he had style).
Like you said, the fight scenes were incredible and unbelievably fast. Some of the comedy the film could have done without, but it sure delivered the goods with the blazing action.
Bad Boys 2 ripped off that shantytown car chase to a tee!

Classic Jackie film.Filled with awesome stunts and action, make's this one of Jackie's most loved and critically acclaimed movie. The second movie is exellent too,so check it out if you haven't already.
The comedy in this movie,is typical Jackie slapstick comedy. You will see it pretty much in every 80s Jackie movie. Actually, if you watch 80s Sammo Hung/Donnie Yen/Yuen Biao,or almost any Hong Kong action movie of that period, you will see that kind of comedy in them.

I plan on buying that one next week. Word is it's better than the first Police Story! It's a great movie, but I find the first movie better. The second one runs a little bit too long, and the first half of the movie is little slow. There is great hand to hand combat and awesome stunts in this one too,so I can forgive those minor things.

I finally got the second PS film for my birthday last month--didn't quite like it as much as the first. Sure, it has a huge explosion at the end and a great playground fight. The best part was easily the scene where he takes revenge in the restaurant. on those who smacked May around. Puts a man's head through a goddamn dish drawer!
But I still don't think it has anything on the first one.

Yeah, the first one is better.I have to say, that the explosion at the end of the second one,is fucking amazing! They don't make explosions like that anymore. Be sure to check out the third Police Story film too. It's entertaining and full of cool stunts, plus it has Michelle Yeoh,so you know the movie will deliver ;D

Yeah,Supercop is cool movie and so is First Strike The New Police Story,is the only Police Story movie, I haven't watched yet. I've heard, that it's more darker and serious than the other ones. Have you seen it?

I came THIS close to buying it the other day, but instead I bought Dead-Alive. But yes apparently it is a much darker take of the story. I just wonder if Chu Tu is in it.

I love the first film as it was the first Jackie Chan film I ever saw, back in the day. The fight scenes and stunts are great, the lady a cutie and the unreasonable boss always makes me laugh.
I love the bus passengers flying out to the top deck to land headfirst ... on the concrete.

I love the bus passengers flying out to the top deck to land headfirst ... on the concrete. That's a crazy and very painfully looking stunt Gotta love the Hong Kong stunt guys. There isn't a stunt, that they won't do,no matter how crazy it is.

I've only seen the first one, third one, and fourth one. But, overall the first was the best, I think Jackie put eveything on the line with this one just to prove that a great action film doesn't have to come from America. Every stunt was great, I enjoyed the mall fight the most. I do want to check out Police Story 2 soon.

I think a major thing the second film lacked was the wild stunts the first one had. That's one of the things that made the first one so impressive. Police Story 2 had far fewer stunts than the first and didn't have the same pulse.
