Known as Shakedown in the States. Directed by James The Exterminator Glickenhaus, this was actually a decent thriller about police corruption with Peter Weller and Sam Elliott making a strong team as a lawyer and a tough cop who take on a gang of bent police officers. The first time we see Elliott, he wakes up in a cinema playing Glickenhaus' other classic The Soldier, before going to the john to brush his teeth.

Thanks for posting the English version, Fake Mustache. Not so long after this, Sam would go on to play another badass in Road House, duking it out with Lewis Teague and other villains. Peter Weller did good in this movie, too, playing a slightly jaded brief. He and Sam were a fine team.

Finally bought this movie 3 weeks ago! Great 80s cheese-action, complete with big guns and a footchase through a sleazy whorehouse. Needless to say, the ending is completely ridiculous and I love it.

Two best scenes in this movie: 1. The scene where the cops are circling around someone (I forget who) in what is basically a dance number from a musical! Its just too funny. 2. The end where Sam Elliot is hanging from the helicopter! So fake looking and so ridiculous anyway! It's great! [End Spoiler]
Pretty entertaining movie overall. A bit more cheesey and over the top than I thought this "based on a true story" movie would be, but pretty awesome nonetheless. Just seeing Robocop team up with The Stranger from The Big Lebowski was enough for me!

Just seeing Robocop team up with The Stranger from The Big Lebowski was enough for me! That cops circling a bystander scene rings a bell with me. It was Peter Weller they were 'dancing' round with one cop leering at him from his car. There was a good action scene where Elliott busts into a police room to save his life. It sure was fun seeing Alex Murphy and Wade Garrett team up to bring some bad guys down. I've got to hunt this down one day, man. Shame Weller never found another role as big as RoboCop. He was briefly in the frame to star as the cop in Basic Instinct.

Was going to start a thread about Shakedown, but then I saw this one and remembered that its alternate title was Blue Jean Cop. Watched this for the first time last year and had a blast. Loved the stuntwork. I wish Glickenhaus still made action movies.

Loved the stuntwork. I wish Glickenhaus still made action movies. He now works as a financial consultant or something and he said in an interview once that the movie business is different to what it was back then, so I don't think he will quite be itching to get back into it. I watched Blue Jean Cop again a few weeks back and it really is a fun, gritty and exciting thriller. Sam Elliott rules!
