They were seven - And they fought like seven hundred! What a cast! This western remake of the Seven Samurai stars Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, etc. I'd call it the Predator of it's day with a cast like that. So you get all these tough bastards teaming up to defend a Mexican village against bandits led by Eli Wallach. Here we get a taste of the awesomeness he'd later bring to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Everyone gets their chance to kick some ass, particularly James Coburn who is a crack shot and expert knife thrower. Be warned though, not everyone will make it out alive. If you love westerns, this has got to be in your top 5.

Wow, no one showing love for this? Magnificent Seven is almost the prototype for modern action. Being a child of the '80s, I thought the film was cliched first time I saw it. Then I realised that this movie almost created those cliches. Where would the A-Team have been without the "evil criminals harrassing innocent people who can't defend themselves" plot?

Not that they invented it either. I mean the film was a remake after all. The A-Team was called a cross between this movie and The Dirty Dozen.

Probably more accurate to say the Seven popularised those cliches. Amazing film, even today.
