Truly a great Seagal flick. May not be the best around, but atleast a really enjoyable one. A car chase here, a good fistfight there; this film is honestly just really up in the good mid-90's action movie genre. It also features a great shootout in a mine with toxic waste barrels and Seagal kicking much ass with a shotgun, though the rest of the film isn't quite as entertaining as The Glimmer Man or On Deadly Ground. For those who haven't seen it, here's a brief plot outline: Seagal is an undercover EPA agent who goes out to a peaceful Kentucky town to investigate some serious and bizarre things going on in the mine-shaft. He then discovers that toxic waste is being dumped down there by a rich fellow and it's up to Jack Taggert(seagal) to take down this sinister tycoon and his thugs, while still keeping his cover in the town. Also stars Marg Helgenberger of CSI fame. [glow=red,2,300] MY RATING: 6.8/10[/glow]

This one's really underrated. When I first got this on DVD, a couple years back for Christmas, I didn't really like, now it's grown on me. It's not as violent as Seagal's previous efforts, but it's pretty damn good.

I have this in my collection but haven't watched it yet. I'm sure after I finish Seagalogy, I'll want to watch most of my Seagal flicks.

Kris Kristofferson is the villain and it's much better than The Patriot--then again, so is everything else. On a side note, I met the actor who played Kristofferson's thug Pimple (Scott L. Schwartz) at a convention afew years ago and shook his hand. Incredibley nice man for an actor.

Indeed this is an underrated classic. Those Seagal fans who have not watched this ought to.

I liked it quite a bit but thought it was really tame for a Seagal movie. The shootout in the mine was pretty cool, especially with the henchmen getting doused with toxic waste from the barrels getting all shot up. Not a good idea to have a shootout with toxic waste everywhere.
Kris Kristofferson looked like a pud in his suit with his little mustache. I hope he enjoyed meeting Tyrone.
The Randy Travis cameo was pretty funny. I heard that he was in this & was waiting for him to appear. Corrupt FBI Agent Travis met a pretty violent end.
Overall, a very enjoyable Seagal flick but nowhere near his best.

I believe this was Seagal's last #1 until Exit Wounds. It opened on a nothing weekend in September with only about $6 million, but the studio hyped the accomplishment, nonetheless.
It's middle-of-the-road Seagal, but I've always enjoyed it. In some ways, it reminds me of Bronson's Messenger of Death. Neither showcase the star at his best, but both are entertaining enough for a Sunday afternoon.
My favorite thing about the film is that it introduces us to a completely new side of Steven Seagal: The Good Ol' Boy. Seagal is really one of the only action stars who made a conscious effort to play to every demographic- allying himself with social groups as diverse as urban gangs, Alaskan natives, and Southern kinfolk. I'm really surprised this man never switched to politics.

Jack Taggert needs to be hanging around my neighborhood. He can do some touch-ups on my porch.
