A New York University professor returns from a rescue mission to the Amazon rain-forest with the footage shot by a lost team of documentarians who were making a film about the area's local cannibal tribes. It`s difficult to know where to begin with this one as it`s title conjures up alot of anger and horror for many people. It`s an incredibly nasty film, there`s entire sequences that`ll make your skin crawl but untimely it`s a powerful that deserves to be seen by those who are lovers of extreme cinema. I`ll never be able to unsee that turtle though. Any thought`s on this one folks? One of the most beautiful scores in film history for one the most gruesome films ever made, talk about irony.

Bought it together with Commando in 2006 and was furious that Commando region 2 version was cut to pieces, while Cannibal Holocaust was given a fine uncut remaster. But over to Cannibal Holocaust. It sure is a movie you dont forget that's for sure. Beautiful haunting soundtrack, and the first half of the film is good. But the scene with the turtle Have not watched it since summer of 2006, and not sure if I'm going to give it a another chance anytime soon.

The collectors edition actually has an animal cruelty free version and more surprisingly the UK had new DVD/Blu Ray release with only a few seconds trimmed.
For the most part it`s a great jungle adventure picture, it just gets nastier and nastier as it goes along. Cannibal Ferox is pretty nasty with the animal stuff too but apart from that it`s just a bit of a nasty comedy with awful acting and even worse dialog.

Cannibal Holocaust was beautifully shoot and it reminded me of Werner Herzogs Aguirre, The Wrath Of God (1972). Instead of a young film team who seems to not care much about other people just as long as they get their fame, you have a bunch of wealthy and greedy conquistadors searching for El Dorado, The city of gold. As with the film crew in Cannibal Holocaust the conquistadors are doomed from the very beginning. Their arrogance and greed does not stand a chance against the heavy jungle and its inhabitants. All around them danger lurks. They are constantly attacked by savage tribes, sickness and disease. Aguirre (Klaus Kinski) the self-proclaimed leader is driven by his passion for gold and the opportunity for fame and glory, but instead he leads his own crew into total madness. Aguirre, The Wrath Of God is one the best "Jungle" movies I think. It got lots of dark humor and a crazy Klaus Kinski doing what he does best. Another thing these movies has in common is a stunning soundtrack.
