Rollie Tyler (Bryan Brown) is a special effect wizard who one day gets involved with the wrong kind of people. His girlfriend is gunned down and Rollie has to use every trick in the F/X book to get even with the bad guys.
Along with the help of a police veteran (Brian Dennehy) the two of them takes on the mafia and the Department Of Justice in search for revenge.F/X is a pretty good action-thriller that feels sometimes like a MacGuyver movie, or how it could have been.
I have always liked Brian Dennehy, and Bryan Brown is very good as the leading act. There was a sequel a couple of years later, but its pretty dull compared to this one.(Look out for Tom Noonan by the way.) The soundtrack is great, and the use of Just an Illusion at the end is genius.

Bought the DVD a while back but haven't given it a watch yet. Need to do that soon.
