Jennifer Corvino (Jennifer Connelly) is a young American teen who is about to begin at the famous Richard Wagner Academy for girls in Switzerland. She is the daughter of a movie star and sleepwalks at night. But her big secret is that she can communicate with insects.
Meanwhile there has been some gruesome murders in the district, but the schools headmaster does not want cause panic, and decides to keep it shut for now.
Back at the Richard Wagner academy Jennifer is now the outcast of the school. She is constantly under attack from the other girls who torment her.
But one day while sleepwalking she comes in contact with a local professor John McGregor (Donald Pleasence) and his chimpanzee. The two of them is about to make a quite good team as they both share their love for insects.
While her roommate is in trouble, Jennifer begins to sleepwalk again, but this time she sees some things that can be quite helpful in the police investigation.
Together with professor McGregor help, Jennifer will now try to seek out the killer with a little help from a small buzzy friend.Phenomena also known as Creepers is my favorite Dario Argento movie. Its a bit more faster than most of his other work, and the last 15 minutes might be some of the best in any horror movie I've seen.
As with most of Argento's films this one is both gory and beautiful at the same time. The soundtrack is fantastic with a great use of heavy metal, rock and instrumental music.
