In 1993, the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence Project receives a transmission detailing an alien DNA structure, along with instructions on how to splice it with human DNA. The result is Sil, a sensual but deadly creature who can change from a beautiful woman to an armour-plated killing machine in the blink of an eye. This films alot of fun, ultimately it`s a good excuse to have lots of blood and show Natasha Henstridge without any clothes on. The supporting cast is surprisingly good, Micheal Madsen (doing the tough hero routine) Alfred Molina, Forrest Whittaker and Ben Kingsley (who appears to be sleep walking through the whole thing.)

This is a great sci-fi-horror movie and one of the better ones from the 90's. Bought the 4-disc Species box just a couple of weeks ago, but haven't seen the last 2 films. Actually I didn't knew they existed before getting a hold on the box-set. Mac, if you're interested in another sci-fi-horror flick with a hot young female in the leading role and a great supporting cast with lots of gore too, you might be checking out Tobe Hooper's Lifeforce (1985) if you haven't seen it before? "In the blink of an eye, the terror begins." Great tag line too!

I own Species 2 but have never got around too seeing it, as for 3 and 4 they were made as direct to DVD cheapies, but you never know they could be fun. I do actually own Lifeforce on DVD but I`ve never seen it nor have I got a clue where it is.

Species 2 wasn't that bad but it has very little on the first one. Gonna check out 3 and 4 soon, as you say they could be a fun watch.
Space vampires is the theme in Lifeforce, but all I remember was a pretty gory scene with Patrick Stewart and the lovely Mathilda May as the naked female alien/vampire.

Took a little re-watch with Species 2 earlier today and I gotta say it sure wasn't a bad sequel. In fact its great sequel.
Tits, blood and gore plus the stereotypical black guy who is supposed to be the funny man and of course a smoking hot Natasha Henstridge.
The only down part is that there were not enough of Natasha Henstridge.
