One of Burt Reynolds' best movies, a violent cop action thriller set in his hometown of Atlanta in which he plays tough guy Tom Sharky, busted down from narcotics to vice where he assembles his own team as he investigates a corrupt politician and his ties with a high class prostitute (Rachel Ward) and her owner Victor Scorelli (Vittorio Gassman), a big-time European gangster. Henry Silva was memorably menacing in this one as Victor's doped up hitman brother and there were some astoundingly brutal shootouts in this hard-boiled actioner.

Love this movie. While Burt's directing style leaves something to be desired, I still loved this movie. Very crafty neo-noir, and frankly one of his better 80s efforts (lots better than Stick. That movie is an insult to Elmore Leonard).
I've always felt Malone was a really underrated Burt flick.

I thought Burt spent a bit too much time concentrating on Sharky's infatuation with Dominoe, but apart from that, this was a pretty realistic thriller and I enjoyed the detective aspects of it as Sharky and his men investigated Dominoe's "murder." Another great bit is when Burt fights those Ninjas before eventually killing them on the boat.

Woah wait... there are ninjas in this??? Might need to track this down. Well, they are not exactly Ninjas, they wear black tops and trousers and carry sticks and one of them has a butterfly knife. They kill an informant by beating him to death.
