Steven Seagal is one of my all-time favorite action stars. It is true that his DTV work has stunk worse than a septic tank in Calcutta save Urban Justice, his first 4 movies are all milestones. Above The Law, Marked For Death, Out For Justice, and Hard to Kill are all amazing movies with Out For Justice being a personal favorite. These movies are a menagerie of pain, Seagal prefers not to just shoot his victims dead most of the time, although boatloads of hapless jackoffs do die by his bullets. He prefers instead to snap arms and legs like they were twigs. A true sadist, Seagal opts for maiming over killing about 7 times out of 10. The beatings he dishes out are merciless and one-sided. People are lucky to hit Seagal twice, and if they do, God help them. A contributer at Ruthless Reviews said it best when they said that they would rather kill Stallone's entire immediate family than let their dog take a shit on Seagal's lawn. The man's revenge center knows no bounds and he will find you. There can be no denying that in his heyday, this man was one badass motherfucker. He was the first white man to open an Aikido dojo in Japan, he was a martial-arts coordinator for several films (he broke Sean Connery's wrist while working in this capacity), he was a bodyguard, an actor, and has crossed over as a musician and a director. He has a bad reputation as an arrogant, egotistical asshole and while I would not honor such attributes in anyone, his legacy has been firmly established and will hopefully improve with future releases hopefully following the lead of Urban Justice, easily his best work in a decade. He does need to get on a fucking treadmill though.

Thankfully, he has been losing weight recently. It's about time he stops muching all those eggrolls and starts crunching skulls again. Definitely my second, if not absolute, favorite action star of all time.
Out for Justice is Seagal's Citizen Kane, and by god it's glorious.

I saw this quote on Seagal's IMDB page. I hope it's something he said within the past few years. "I am hoping that I can be known as a great writer and actor some day rather than a sex symbol." -Steven Seagal

Well he has been losing some of that gut lately, as seen from photos of his new film Pistol Whipped (aka Marker).

He's looking pretty good there. I'll shit myself if he ever gets back down to his Above the Law look.

Under Seige and Marked for Death are my two favorite Seagal movies of all time. Under Seige was classic because not only did it allow Seagal to be funny and kick ass but he also had Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey to contend with. Awesome knife fight in the end with TLJ.
Marked for Death was cool because it brought new villain to Seagal: Voodoo. Screwface is an awesome villain. He screwed with your mind and wasn't afraid of anyone. This was his biggest mistake because the only thing that Seagal fears is Chuck Norris who in turn fears Schwarzenegger but enough of that. Seagal dominated as usual and delivered a knock out with this one.

As long as he's capable of throwing guys into cabinets/phone booths/etc I don't really give a fuck what shape he's in. I just want him to get rid of that goddamn skunk on his head and quit it with the leather box jackets.
Also, he should really take the time out to promote his movies properly. I'm sick of these cheap photoshopped covers with a stock photo of Seagal with another dude's hand holding a gun superimposed over it (also see Charles Bronson's 80s output).

Has anyone seen Pistol Whipped yet? Everyone was ranting & raving about it on the old board. I almost forgot that it came out until I saw it overpriced at FYE.

I bought it, it's pretty fucking good. it is more of an Action flick than a Martial Arts flick. there are maybe four Akido scenes and they are ok but most of the action is in shoot outs.
Seagal is a drunken gambler with a shadowy past. Lance Henriksen is "the Old Man" and Paul "my names Paul, and this shit's between yall" Calderon is "Blue" his enforcer. the Old Man offers to pay off Seagals "Markers" (which would have made a hell of a better title than Pistol Whipped) as long as he does hits on certain people. people who are scum anyway.
Seagal even gets some of that black poontang in this. it's official... Seagal is now 100% down with the homeboys. I was watching it with in the studio with some black friends of mine, they go "damn, that's a fine ass sista right therr. shee-it Seagal got some soul, boy I'm tellins ya!"
in my opinion, a very good movie. should have went to theaters. I know we say that almost every time a new Seagal DTV comes out, but this one even more than Urban Justice. the cinematography, the acting, an actual twist to the plot that was not cheese plus Seagal losing weight and cutting that God awful Beaver Pelt off his skull all contribute to what may be his return to the big screen very soon.
it is worth the price just to see Seagal wearing a shirt instead of that full length black mumu he had been wearing as of late.

I'm definitely gonna have to pick this one up soon. The trailer is on The Shepherd dvd and looks incredibly violent.
Seagal looks in tip-top shape, and it's about time Lance Henriksen did another action film. His last one was Hard Target, and, by god, he was awesome.

Good to hear the Doodoo seal of approval. I'm going to have to snag this one up sometime. Thanks!
