I don't really care about Cage one way or the other. I thought Con Air was horrible anyway.

All I can say is God bless John Woo for actually making Nicholas Cage cool.

Maybe Van Damme did read the script for Con Air, turned it down, and the film company panicked and casted Nic Cage. Dolph Lundgren must have been busy that week.

Shouldn't be an action star:
David Bradley - American Ninja, Cyborg Cop Jimmy Fallon - Taxi

One man that should never be an action star I thought he did a good job of avoiding being his wrestling character in The Marine, though Robert Patrick stole his thunder.

You're right, damnation. John Cena and action star should never be mentioned together.

I disagree with the Rock, Vinnie Jones, Vin Diesel and Jason Statham (first Transporter was good but the sequel went too far) choices and as for Matt Damon, I wasn't so keen on the idea of him in Bourne Identity at first but then him and the movie series grew on me. And Will Smith is cool with me.

But Smokin' Aces is the best action movie ever!! Fuck the new Rambo movie, this is the pinnacle of action movie making.Ryan Reynolds is sooo dreamy and that sixpack lahd have mercy! Just kidding. I haven't even seen Smokin' Aces and I think Ryan Reynolds as an action star,is a goddamn disgrace!

Yet another pretty boy trying to make a name for himself in the world of action. He didn't even do much in Smokin' Aces, except fire a few shots. I much prefer this guy. He's got charisma. He'd even be good as a baddie.

I gave Smokin' Aces a miss but I can't stand Reynolds. I guess he's alright in crap like Van Wilder or whatever, but he is absolutely terrible in Blade:Trinity and completely useless in the 2005 Amityville remake. He is a large part of the reason why those films are so bad; the Amityville remake isn't even a 1/4 as good as the original which wasn't even that good to begin with.

I personally like Statham. He's now churning out the sort of films Van Damme did 15 yrs ago, and he at least looks tough and like he could kick ass. Not a patch on ol' Jc though.
I agree on Rock (Mr Disney now), Diesel, Cage, Cruise, Affleck. And to some extent Damon. I loved the Bournes, he was excellent in them, convincing, but they weren't action star vehicles in the same way as Arnold, Sly etc have done in their career. Bourne was supposed to look like a complete everyman, and be as effective for his intelligence as his fighting. Bourne 3 is one of the best action films going mind you. However I just don't see Damon pulling off a non-Bourne action film.
I've also never got Dudikoff. He isn't a martial artist, and doesn't look tough. I believe he's had some token training after American Ninja, or before, but he didn't have the background that some other stars, even C-movies rivals like Daniels, Wilson, or Gruner had.
