I think Dudikoff is ok but Steve James should've been the main star of the American Ninja movies.

I actually don`t have any qualms with Mark Wahlberg, I liked him Shooter and The Departed.

Will Smith will always be The Fresh Prince to me. Same here. He's a likable star, but I just can't see him as a tough guy. I can't believe he's now the biggest movie star in the world. I do give him credit for favoring sci-fi...the problem is, the films always fall short and make you wish someone like Arnold had done them instead. His movies also don't age very well. I don't see any of them being respected in 20 years the way Predator, Total Recall, or T2 are. Ironically, I don't really have a problem with Wahlberg- despite the fact that I couldn't stand Marky Mark. Four Brothers was a pretty entertaining riff on The Sons of Katie Elder. I don't think Damon considers himself an action hero, or has any aspirations of being one. I'm actually surprised he returned for two sequels, and has already signed for a fourth. I give him a lot of credit for not pulling any "I'm a serious actor and don't do sequels" crap. The Bourne films may not be the 1980's style I grew up with, but they're definitely the best of the modern action styles. And I think that's really the biggest problem. You can't hardly watch an action film these days without it being screwed up by editing or cgi. A lot of these guys (The Rock, Statham, etc.) would probably come off looking much better if the director's didn't rely on so many damn gimmicks. The end result usually feels like disposable junk that's forgotten before it even hits dvd.

I disagree with the Rock, Vinnie Jones, Vin Diesel and Jason Statham (first Transporter was good but the sequel went too far) choices and as for Matt Damon, I wasn't so keen on the idea of him in Bourne Identity at first but then him and the movie series grew on me. And Will Smith is cool with me as long as it fits his character as in Bad Boys and MIB.
And Cena wasn't that bad in The Marine (better than Hulk Hogan as an action star)

Jake Gyllenhaal in his upcoming film "Prince of Persia": Not a good idea. He's not really an action star. The only other "action" film he's done was "Jarhead" and that there was just crap.

The Gyllenhaals have to be the dullest dynasty in screen history.

Prince of Persia, eh?
Hollywood seems to be hoping that by the law of averages that eventually they'll make a half-decent movie that's based on a computer game.
I wouldn't bank on it.

I liked Vinnie Jones and Steve Austin in the Comdemned and I liked the Rock in The Scorpion King and Doom. I will agree however about John Cena. The Marine was almost unwatchable. Anyone see the trailer for his new one, 12 Rounds? Does this sound familiar: His wife is kidnapped by a mad bomber and he has to run around town answering phones. He misses a call and the bomb will go off. Why are they remaking Die Hard 3?
Others who shouldn't be action heroes:
Brandon Routh - Superman Returns Tobey Maguire - Spider-Man
Both sucked equally and loudly.

Oh yeah I almost forgot. Steve Carrell in Get Smart. Leslie Nielson must have said no.
