It's a very close call between Raiders and Last Crusade for me, but I think Raiders just shades it.
The opening sequence with the temple and the giant ball, the truck chase, the punch-up in front of the aircraft, "Asps! Very dangerous!...you go first", the wrath of the Ark when it's opened etc. etc.
It's an awesome film. The Last Crusade is great as well, I love the banter between Ford and Connery but I think Raiders just shades it.
Roll on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - fingers crossed it's good!

Definitely Raiders of the Lost Ark. It's the most action-packed of the series and has some of the best lines, although Last Crusade has great dialogue between Ford and Connery.
I adore that intense truck scene of Raiders. Definitely one of the best action scenes I've ever watched in a Spielberg movie. Pure awesomeness.

Raiders of the Lost Ark.
I do have a special place for The Temple of Doom though.

Raider's is untouchable but I've seen Temple more than the other's and just like Kimble, I'll always have a soft spot for it. The fucked up dinner scene, guys heart gets ripped out, Indy get's possessed and smacks around the kid, the mine cart chase. Raider's and Temple were two of the first movies I ever rented on VHS back in the 80's and I still have the theatre program for Last Crusade which I lined up to see almost twenty years ago. I've tried to stay away from spoilers and reviews for Crystal Skull - Ain't it Cool's got reviews up already. I'm taking 23rd of May off work and getting the bus to Dublin to see it on Ireland's biggest screen - 11 am show, kids at school, just me and a bunch of die hard Indy fans. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a movie....

Last Crusade is my favorite and Raiders is a close second. Connery is all charisma, that tank scene is amazing and there's a lot of humor that fits lovely in the movie. We also see more on Indy's past and the father and son aspect brings more depth to the movie.
The Temple of Doom is a good movie, but to me it's easily the weakest in the trilogy.

Had to vote temple. It has the best ending. Raiders is a great movie but the ending sucks, Indy wins by not looking? What's that? The same happens in Crusade where we have the tank fight and then the pace of the film slows right down. In Temple he cuts the bridge in half and fights with Mola Ram while climbing up the cliff. That's why it's got my vote.

Temple of Doom, Yeah i love the whole voodoo scene, and the way he cuts the bridge and all the soldiers fall into the croc pit. Also i love the banquet scene with the snake surprise and chilled monkey brains Short Round makes me laugh too 'You call him Doctor jones, Doll'

raiders is the best film quality wise, but my personal favourite is temple of doom. it was one of the first films i ever saw at the cinema. things i like:
- the whole 'kali mar! kali mar!' 'oh no shabay, oh no shabay' heart removal scene.
- in a none too subtle nod to the first film, indy going for his gun and trying to shoot a showboating swordsman and finding its not there.
- the banquet scene
- the ludicrousness of it all.
having seen the trailer for the new film, i can only assume its going to be a 'the mummy-esque' display of ILM wankery. only a glowing report from someone on here will get me to see it.

I disagree with you as I think the new one looks awesome. Also, I was reading an interview with Harrison Ford in Maxim magazine and he said their is hardly any CGI in this movie at all as Spielberg (And he) wanted it to look like the other 3.
That makes me so happy to hear as I am fed up with CGI in all these new movies. Indy is alot older now, but he still looks cool and I think this movie will be very good.

I used to really like Indiana Jones as a kid but now I could care less for some reason. Ninja Turtles took his place I think. I have not seen them in ages but when I did I always liked Temple.
the new movie? it's whatever. don't give a shit. tired of the marketing campaign. all on my M+M's and shit. in fact, I was getting a blunt today and saw fucking Indiana Jones scratch offs. what the fuck? if Colonel says it is worth it then I will see it.

Gotta go with Temple Of Doom, didn't care much for the 3rd film outside Sean Connery.

From what I've seen and read, I'd disagree. It seems that they are going with proper stunts and sets for the large part. True, there will no doubt be CGI in it (I read they're using CGI for backgrounds instead of matte paintings) but I trust Speilberg to keep it reigned in and keep the 'feel' of the film to be true to the old ones as much as possible.
Anyway - I'm surprised to see Temple of Doom getting so much love on this thread - to me the other two films are far superior, but it's all a matter of taste I guess...

Crusade is more consistent than Doom but Doom's high points are much higher. I don't think there's anything in Crusade which comes close to the "kali mar" scene, the mine cart chase, the dinner scene, the finale or the intro. I'm not sure which of the first two films is my favourite though.
