Job For A Cowboy (cleaning tufts of bloodied hide off barbed wire fences) were fucking dreadful. I actually began to feel sorry for them after 20 minutes of booing, flying plastic pint glasses and exasperated groans. I also didn't realise that Scott Ian had started playing bass. Megadeth were fucking great, and played a much better set than when I last saw them in 2005. They were about x10 times tighter and x20 more enthusiastic, and Broderick is far more capable than Glen "I'm the drummer's brother" Drover.
I really did expect the encore to be Peace Sells/Mechanix like last time, but I was glad that they played Wake Up Dead and a suuuuuper-tight version of Take No Prisoners, which made me spontaneously forgive Mustaine for fucking with the vocals on the reissues. I really hope this isn't, as I've heard, their last tour as it seems people are willing to see the Dave Mustaine Show in perpetuity.

dude, Job for a Cowboy fucking sucks... hard. they came from fucking myspace so what does one expect from them really? they are fucking popular around here in the ex Screamo Scene and you are not cool unless you have a tight fitting Job for a Cowboy shirt. these Cowboys are clearly from the Brokeback school.
glad to hear that Megadeth fucking killed it. is this really the finale? that's just what I heard.

Job For a Cowboy has played in my hometown before. All of the local scenesters were pumped that they were playing here. Needless to say, I didn't go because my hometown's local music scene sucks.

which made me spontaneously forgive Mustaine for fucking with the vocals on the reissues. I really hope this isn't, as I've heard, their last tour as it seems people are willing to see the Dave Mustaine Show in perpetuity. I highly doubt Megadeth will quit, Mustaine loves the adoration, he loves the money (see the prices at the merch stand) and with a new Metallica album out this year he'll probably want to come out fighting. I didn't know that Mustaine had fucked with the vocals on Rust In Peace though. The only re-issued 'deth albums i have are Countdown To Extinction and Youthanasia. Though i noticed he'd created a new intro to one of the songs on Countdown... I don't see why these guys feel the need to fuck around with things that are long since accepted and laid to rest. Fair enough clean up the sound on a remastered version, but don't change the song itself. What's worse is that the original then becomes impossible to get hold of, like the Ozzy effort where he went back and 'remastered' Blizzard of Ozz to replace Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake with his 2002 rythym section to avoid paying the original guys royalties. Now you can only buy that abortion version. That move has the unmistakable whiff of the evil megalomaniac fucker Sharon O all over it.

that ozzy thing is ridiculous. what fan in their right mind would want a rerecorded version of a classic album, just because sharon osbourne want MORE money.
has megadave rerecorded rust in peace and countdown? luckily i have all the old versions. although i hear the new version of killing is my business is better.

He 'remixed and remastered' the first eight albums apparently. I think the amount of tinkering depends on how fucked the original was. (Or, more likely, how fucked he was when recording it the first time)

Killing Is My Business... needed remastering and sounds all the better for it, the others did not and have lost some of their magic. Mustaine's explanation for the new vocals on Take No Prisoners was that they'd lost the original DAT tapes, which I don't believe for an instant. It's not quite on the level of the Osbourne atrocity, but still, I'm glad I've got the originals. The only reason to buy the reissues was for the interesting liner notes.
I smell the rotten tangy whiff of copyright problems. That's also the reason why the "updated" Vic Rattlehead now looks like a complete fucking dork instead of the thrash metal Eddie he was for 20+ years. Megadeth albums just won't be the same without him.

just to spite all this bullshit I am currently downloading the OG versions of Rust and Killing along with Blizzard thrown in there for good measure. Dave and Ozzy, you guys could have made a buck (like you need it) off me today if you guys weren't so gay.
I just got this off Blabbermouth while researching the new Vic.
"According to Reuters, Dave Mustaine — MEGADETH's founder, singer and guitarist — ran into licensing issues with the artist who originally drew the mascot in the early 1980s based on Mustaine's idea — a skull with jaws wired shut, steel visor and metal earplugs."
that is gay. I've been thinking Vic was cool for like 13 years and can imagine how the old guard must feel. those guys who are sitting in trailers, sipping Budweiser or Natural Ice (Natty) in a football jersey caressing their shitty Vic Rattlehead tattoos.
I feel for you.

i love all kinds of metal: black, death (and all sub genres), classic, thrash, glam, doom, viking, NWOBHM, etc etc. anything but nu-metal - which is sacrilege.
my favourite stuff is mid 80's thrash/death: slayer, venom, celtic frost, early metallica, sepultura. but it just depends on the mood.

Yeah, this is Megadaves last tour.
In the same sense that Kiss have been doing their farewell tour for the last 15 years.

When I was looking through my old zip files for the "Mistaken Identity" thread I found this picture: I'm sure Chainmail Vest has also seen this twat mincing about self-consciously at the Mission every Saturday for, like, the last four years.
