Discuss Paul Kersey's five film rampage here. Also for making sandwiches & believing in Jesus. Death Wish 3 was easily the most enjoyable of the Paul Kersey films. It had the highest death count, for one. Cheesy story line and subpar acting helped it acheive this. Some great lines were had in this film, for one when Eli asks Paul, "What are those?", Paul replys, "Teeth!". One must relize, this film wasn't made to be enjoyed by the average critic. It is for Charles Bronson (or Kersey) fans. People who like to see the shit get blown out of people and items along those lines.

I`ve grown to love Death Wish 5, I used to be one of those people who felt it was a weak link in the saga but it`s a great low budget affair. Mr. O Shea`s one minute weight loss program was hilarious, especially the poor acting from the fat guy. ;D
My least favorite of the lot is actually the original, it`s a great film but I just enjoy the action filled and therefore more enjoyable sequel`s.

I agree too, 5 has its funny moments, and 1 is too serious for me. The only part I laughed at in DW1 was when he is swinging his sock of quarters around in his home like a lunatic.

The only part I laughed at in DW1 was when he is swinging his sock of quarters around in his home like a lunatic. That's b/c he's starting to get pissed and broken over his life after it went funhouse-mirror on him. He breaks the sock--I would too. It's a mad world of crooks, and he's just lowering the body count.

The first Death Wish is the best in the series when it comes to being a seriously good movie...but the ridiculousness & action of the sequels makes them funner movies to watch.
Here's how I'd currently rank the series:
Death Wish IV: The Crackdown Death Wish III Death Wish Death Wish V: The Face of Death Death Wish II

That was a good read. I`d actually go on record as saying Death Wish II is my favorite of the lot, here`s why... - Charles Bronson buying ice cream - Jimmy Page`s music - Boom box death - Charlie throwing his clipboard and going nuts. Great lines too "How much do i owe ya?" "Do you believe in Jesus?"

Guess who plays Richie Cunningham's brother? MANNY F*KIN' FRAKER!

This has already been brought up, but what's everyone's stance on the Stallone Death Wish remake?
I admit I would only support one if Stallone directed it. Death Wish in no way needs to be remade and the plot is the oldest plot in Hollywood and it's been repeated millions of times, but I would only approve of one if Stallone did it. As a brother in action, Charles Bronson would probably approve.

I just caught up on some Vigilante flicks I'd missed - rented The Brave One and Death Sentence last night.
The Brave One was ok, nothing special. Pretty much lifted the plot and theme's directly from Death Wish. Mild mannered New Yorker picks up a gun and starts killing ramdom creeps after a loved one is murdered. The cops follow the clues and i.d. the vigilante but don't do much about it in the end.
I pretty much hated Death Sentence. It was nice to see Kevin Bacon flip out and pull a Travis Bickle towards the end but I thought the villains were a bunch of House of Pain wannabe's. I can't recall any of their names or even what they looked like. I was kinda glad when Bacon's family got wasted too which I'm sure wasn't the idea.
Don't really know what Stallone could add to this renewed interest in the vigilante genre. Rocky & Rambo are his babies and he put his heart and soul into the recent sequels. I'm just having trouble forgetting his Get Carter remake............

Quality doesn't matter to me on VHS--those things are ancient gems, especially when it's Death Wish 3, aka Third Coming of Jesus.
When did you buy that tape, Kimble?

A few years ago off Amazon. It was a surprise gift from one of my oldest friends.
